New Recordings on MySpace

I recently uploaded a few new recordings onto my MySpace page: the Allemande from J. S. Bach’s Partita in A Minor,  Deux Interludes by Ibert (a live recording from a recent Ibert Trio concert), and Casterede Etude #5 (one of my favorite flute etudes).

The Casterede etude is such a beautiful piece of music and so much fun to play, I wish it would go on for many more minutes.  If you don’t like playing etudes, try Casterede’s Douze Etudes and you’ll want to play etudes every day!

Deux Interludes by Ibert is originally for flute, violin, and harp/harpsichord.  We played it with cello and piano.  James Lin, our cellist, was reading the violin part and making adjustments as necessary.  I think it sounds great with cello!

Every few years my idea of how the Bach Partita should be played changes.  This recording of the Allemande is how I hear it right now…next year, it will probably be different.  That’s what makes Bach’s music so fun and challenging.  You can always find new things in the music that you didn’t notice before.
