Update: I had such a great time on the SoundNotion podcast I had to update this post! Some of the topics discussed included classical music patronage, kickstarter, some topics from recent new music box essays, the Detroit Symphony strike and sexism.
The thing that impressed me the most about the podcast, in addition to the fact that the hosts/panelists on the show (David MacDonald, Sam Merciers, Nate Bliton, Patrick Gullo) were super nice, is how much time and care goes into producing this show. A week before we recorded the show, they started sharing potential discussion topics on a google doc. I think it also takes an hour to set up all the cameras and mics, etc. and perhaps almost as long to take apart all the gear. It must also take at least another hour to edit the audio/video and upload it to the website/iTunes, etc. If you include the 1 hour show taping time, I’m guessing that they spend 4+ hours every Sunday producing this unique show – with zero pay (at least for now). Thank you SoundNotion for your service to the new music community!
Please visit the SoundNotion site and make a donation so that they can keep on producing great shows.
